NOT BUILT ON SAND
1961
A success story from the beginning:
On September 1, 1961, Karl Voss founded the Hamm mineral mill with the purpose of trading and processing mineral raw materials from all over the world.
The 60s and 70s
Steady growth through the construction of more and more mineral mills. Grinding of lithium ores and zirconium oxide and recycling of refractory regenerates from the steel and glass industry
The 80s
The processing of refractory raw materials from China is becoming increasingly important. The proportion of recycled building materials continues to decline.
The 90s
The amount of processed material reached 230,000 tonnes per year.
1998
Takeover of the management by Stefan Frevel
2006
Certification of the QM system according to ISO 9001:2008.
Construction of a mixing plant for the production of trickling compounds.
2009
A new plant for the processing of chromite sand was built.
2011
Tim Grottendieck joins the management board
2012
Separation of the Chrome sands division into an independent company: HAG Trading and Processing Company for Minerals mbH
2015
Energy management system introduced according to ISO 50001
2020
Since 2020 MMW is part of the Possehl Erzkontor Group

24-HOUR PERFORMANCE
Storage capacity for over 200,000t
Mineralmahlwerk Hamm employs 55 people who work in three shifts and manage to produce 180,000 tonnesp.a. working at three crushing plants and seven processing plants.
All processing plants are equipped with dryers, modern screening machines and ball mills. Furthermore, a mixing station is available to provide MgO masses to the steel industry. It takes about one and a half days for a barge to travel the distance of approx. 300 km from the seaports to Hamm.
The MMW has a total operating area of 70,000 m2,of which 50,000 m2are used for the storage of minerals, 20,000 m2 of the storage areas are covered.

ON LAND AND AT WATER
As we are located at the port of Hamm, the canal port in Europe with the highest turnover of goods, we have the ideal logistical connections to some of Europe’s most important seaports in Rotterdam, Antwerp and Amsterdam. Raw materials are delivered to us from all over the world using the Dutch waterway network: the Rhine, the Wesel-Datteln canal and the Datteln-Hamm canal.
It takes about one and a half days for a barge to travel the distance of approx. 300 km from the seaports to Hamm.
But we are also excellently accessible by road.
The Hamm mineral mill is conveniently located on the main arteries A1 and A2 for optimal connections in all four directions.
